摘要: <正> The thrombophilia which can be either congenital oracquired in adult life has major implications in the ab-dominal vessels. The resulting portal vein thrombosis,Budd-Chiari syndrome and mesenteric vein thrombosishave a variety of consequences ranging from acute ab-domen to chronic hepatomegaly and even totally asymp-tomatic patient in whom the only finding is pancytope-nia.The complications like esophageal varices, portalgastropathy, ascites, severe hypersplenism, liver failurerequiring liver transplantation are well known.Interes-ting features of collateral venous circulation showingitself as pseudocholangiocarcinoma sign and its possibleclinical reflection as cholestasis are also known from along time. The management strategies for these comp-lications of intraabdominal vessel thrombosis are notdifferent from their counterpart which is cirrhotic portalhypertension, but the prognosis is unquestionably betterin former cases. In this review we presented and discus-sed the abdominal venous thrombosis, etiology and theresulting clinical pictures. There are controversial issuesboth in nomenclature, and management including anti-coagulation problems and follow up strategies. In light ofthe current knowledge,we discussed some controversialissues in literature and presented our experience and ourproposals about this group of patients.
